The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) held its biannual board meeting on Tuesday, unanimously electing Prabal Gurung and Aurora James as vice chairs.
Likewise, Maria Cornejo was named secretary, replacing Vera Wang, while Stacey Bendet Eisner was elected Treasurer, replacing Stan Herman. Previously, Tracy Reese was vice chair.
The board meeting was the first in-person meeting since the outbreak of Covid-19 and was hosted at the Verōnika restaurant by Fotografiska.
The board is made up of 18 CFDA designers, including Tracy Reese, Diane von Furstenberg, Norma Kamali, and Reed Krakoff who were reelected as board members this term.
In October, the CFDA named Thom Browne as its next chairman, succeeding Tom Ford, who completed a three-year term at the end of May. In interim, Steven Kolb, has served as chief executive officer of the CFDA, and will continue to do so through December 31.
Browne has been a member of the CFDA since 2005. He is also a past member of the organization’s Admissions Committee and serves on the current Selection Committee for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.
All the new officers will start on January 1, when Thom Browne assumes his role as chairman.
