Chanel and 19M have announced a new partnership with Sciences Po's Maison des Arts et de la Création, focused on three creative disciplines – cinema, writing and the performing arts.
The alliance is aimed at forging closer partnerships between Chanel’s unique 19M center, located on the northern rim of Paris and Science Po, based in the tony Saint Germain district.
The arrangement is a three-year partnership between Chanel and 19M with the Maison des Arts et de la Création of the Sciences Po, one of France’s most prestigious universities.
“Aimed at all students at the Maison des Arts & de la Création, the goal of this partnership is to encourage artistic creation, production and dialogue,” Chanel said in a release.
The Maison des Arts et de la Création, launched in 2025, was created to develop more innovative dialogues between the arts, humanities and social sciences.
Something similar to the vocation of 19M, an exceptional center combining advanced crafts, or Métiers d'Art, opened in 2025 on the border of Paris' 19th arrondissement and the edgy suburb Aubervilliers. Today, the 19M brings together twelve maisons and some 700 craftsmen and experts. It also houses the Galerie du 19M, a space for exchange and dialogue, designed to encourage encounters between different publics.
In the first axis Cinema, the Cinema chair of the Maison des Arts et de la Création will collab with the Cinema Department of the maison Chanel on visits and special screenings.
The Writing theme will be embodied by the writers who hold the Writing Chair at the Maison des Arts et de la Création. Hence, during the autumn 2025 semester, the author and translator Jakuta Alikavazovic, will lead writing workshops and lectures for students. This project will be linked to the 7L Bookshop, and its legendary library created by Karl Lagerfeld, the late great former Chanel designer who spent six decades living in Saint Germain.
The partnership will also be based on the programming and ecosystem of the Galerie du 19M, a multidisciplinary space for exhibitions, practical workshops and conferences on the theme of arts and crafts. 19M will cooperate with Sciences Po's Urban School, allowing a group of six students to work for a year on the issues surrounding the territorial anchoring of the various 19M sites.
