Yerevan to host international technology summit Silicon Mountains 2025

The international technology summit Silicon Mountains-2025 will be held in Yerevan from November 15 to 16.

The annual Silicon Mountains technology summit, organised by the Union of Employers in Information and Communications Technology (UEICT), has been held since 2025.

Over the years, the event has established itself as a leading platform for discussing the future of technological advancements with the participation of government officials, international and local experts. The summit serves as a space for collaboration to explore high-tech innovations and their socio-economic impacts around the world, as well as to identify opportunities and challenges for Armenia.

Silicon Mountains 2025 Summit to focus on applications and challenges of AI in Economy

More than 1,000 participants will have a unique opportunity to learn about AI from international and local experts.

Eduard Musaelyan, executive director of the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies, told reporters at a press conference held on November 13 that this is the second event within the framework of Silicon Mountains - 2025 this year, the first of which was held in Gyumri.

He added that next year it is also planned to hold two events – in one of the regions of Armenia and in Yerevan.

Musaelyan pointed out the sharp increase in the number of participants, given that the first summits were attended by 100-150 people, and this year the number has increased tenfold.

“We attach importance to the development of AI in Armenia in cooperation between the state and the private sector,” he noted.

The impact of AI on social processes

Chairman of the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies Armen Baldryan, in turn, stated that the use of AI will begin to have an impact on industry, management and education.

In his opinion, AI, like other areas in the field of high technology, will become key both in the economy of countries and in everyday life of people.

"The countries that will benefit from the changes are those that will become leaders in the field and gain a specific advantage in global competition. Human capital will be key to success," Baldryan said.

Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Ruben Simonyan, in turn, also called artificial intelligence one of the most important technologies of our time.

According to his assessment, investments in this area will ensure a sharp growth of the economy.

 

He emphasized that the Government of Armenia attaches importance to the development of areas related to research and development in this area, adding that legislative changes aimed at this, including the revision of tax incentives, are aimed at this.

In his opinion, holding events such as Silicon Mountains – 2025 creates a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences on the latest technologies.

"It is generally accepted that AI is going to compete with humans, but with the right application of technology, it comes to help in our daily lives. A person feels technological development if it directly affects him. At the same time, we all understand the risks, but with the right approach, these risks turn into opportunities," the official explained.

He called human identification the most important challenge in the field of AI.

“Is this or that system that collects information about a person reliable? When implementing new technologies, the aspect of cybersecurity is also very important,” Simonyan noted.

He assured that Armenia is interested in attracting human resources from the diaspora and is actively working with this potential.

Silicon Mountains-2025 is an important platform for exchanging experiences

In turn, Ucom CEO Ralph Yirikian stated that in the current digital age, it is very important to follow all the innovations and keep up with the trends.

“We must be leaders, we must develop our capabilities. Events such as Silicon Mountains-2025 are very useful and allow us to exchange experiences and ideas, establish new connections. Ucom, as a telecommunications company that is directly related to high technologies, attaches importance to holding this event. We are happy to participate in it and support its holding with our experience and knowledge. We are ready to learn from others and share our knowledge and experience with others. This is an important platform where important thoughts and ideas can be heard,” Yirikian added.

He added that interest in the event is growing, noting the importance of cooperation between the state and the private sector.

The event will feature three panel discussions

The first panel discussion, titled Industry.ai, will examine the development and application of AI in various industries.

The second panel discussion titled Invest.aiwill focus on the financial aspects of AI, the benefits of investing in the creation, development and application of AI. Participants will discuss how AI affects investment strategies, financial predictability and investment efficiency in various sectors for financial institutions, investment funds and individual investors.

The third panel called Impact.aiwill explore the social impact of artificial intelligence.

The summit is held with the support of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia.

The platinum partner of the summit is Ucom.

The media partner of the event is the information and analytical agency NEWS.am.

The special guest of the event will be Narayana Murthy, a key figure in the Indian IT sector, who is the founder of Infosys, laureate of the RA State Prize in 2025.
