Insanity is growing. Bags from the American supermarket chain Trader Joe's are being resold for $1 million. And we're talking about ordinary string bags, like our grandmothers used. As Hypebae notes, this Easter product has blown up the internet.

Trader Joe's is a chain of niche food stores. A set of eight bags in different colors costs $1,000,000.

Resellers are literally the Achilles heel of fashion, shoes, concert tickets, and more. From markups of over 300% to inauthentic products, the story is becoming increasingly absurd.

In March 2025, Trader Joe's bags were such a hot item that the store's already busy parking lots were packed with shoppers hoping to snag a bag. Shoppers soon sold out the store’s mini canvas tote bags, which were priced at $2.99 at the time.

After the hype, resellers pulled off their magic and started selling the bags for more than $500, prompting complaints from TikTok users.

“The California grocery chain confirmed to USA TODAY last month that it would be releasing its mini canvas tote bags in April at stores nationwide, and now they’re finally hitting shelves.”

According to a Trader Joe’s spokesperson, the new mini canvas tote bags are available in limited quantities, so the odds of you getting your hands on one—before resellers do—are slim.

This begs the question: Has consumerism gone too far? Is the reseller okay?

The aforesaid grocery store has a special message for resellers: “Let’s be clear: We do not condone or support the resale of our products and are doing everything we can to end this practice.”
