Two hundred and thirty five years and counting. Billed as ‘Britain’s oldest family jeweller’, Deakin & Francis is looking to extend its heritage with plans for future growth.

Established in 1786 in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, the business has hired content marketing agency HDY to help it with both domestic and international growth.
Henry Deakin, managing director at Deakin & Francis, told The BusinessDesk that appointing HDY Agency “marks the next chapter for our business and our growth ambitions,” which includes expanding in the US market.
The expansion plans ideally coincide with the jewellery and accessories maker’s recent launch of new collections, which includes expanding its core cufflinks collections.
In addition to its Birmingham base, the jeweller also has a Mayfair, London store and its collections are available in more than 600 points of purchase globally, including Harrods.
Angel Gaskell, co-founder of HDY Agency, said: “Working with a Birmingham-based client is always a great feeling. It’s our first thing in common; then comes the passion and drive to succeed."
The business’s expansion plans coincide with a strong growth phase for the jewellery sector that has seen a host of established names expand to open more stores in well-positioned city centres or extend space in existing successful units.
