Fashion Trust U.S. Awards, a non-profit initiative founded by Tania Fares, a Lebanese fashion writer based in London and Los Angles, and intended to support emerging designers, revealed last night in Los Angeles at Goya Studios, its first American winners.

A ceremony where the press was not invited, but filled with guests and celebrities, such as Demi Moore, Christine Quinn, Heidi Klum, Kate Beckinsale, designers Jacquie Aiche, Rachel Meyer, Philipp Lim, Rachel Zoe and tennis player Maria Sharapova.
 
The event, hosted by American comedian Phoebe Robinson, celebrated six awards in six categories, such as ready-to-wear, jewelry and graduate awards, with three special award categories including inclusivity, sustainability and the Google Creativity award. 

Among the big winners at Fashion Trust U.S. was designer Aisling Camps, who won the St John Ready-to-Wear Award. A graduate of Columbia University and the Fashion Institute of Technology, Aisling Camps is a New York-based mechanical engineer turned fashion designer, focused on sustainability and specializing in high-quality knitwear.

She will have the opportunity to produce a collection with the St John's team, and global CEO Andy Lew will provide mentorship and business development guidance. 
 
Another name to keep in mind was the brand duo L'Enchanteur, made up of Soull and Dynasty Ogun, receiving the Jewelry Award from Tracee Ellis Ross. The brand, which imagines timeless pieces with spiritual inspirations, will receive a grant and professional mentorship from Fashion Trust U.S.
 
Among the other winners of the event, Pappa Opong won the Graduate Award sponsored by Shop with Google and will receive a scholarship and professional mentorship from Google. Jacques Agbobly and his brand Agbobly won the Inclusivity Award; Elena Velez the Sustainability Award; and Puppets and Puppets the Google Creativity Award.

Following the success of the Fashion Trust in the U.K and MENA, Fashion Trust founder Tania Fares launched FTUS last year to support emerging designers in the US. The Fashion Trust U.S. Board of Directors is comprised of prominent representatives of the U.S. fashion industry, including Tania Fares, Laura Brown, Anne Crawford, Tan France, Samira Nasr and Karla Welch.
