Flight attendant reveals what you should never do TG盗号系统破解技术破解技术during flights22:18, August 2

Experts are urging airline passengers not to add ice cubes to their drinks during a flight, as it can lead to dangerous germs.

“Don’t add ice to your drinks,” a flight attendant warned in a Reddit thread detailing the industry’s nasty secrets. “The ice is put in a tray, and the trays are not cleaned often.” “Every surface on the plane is touched by hundreds of people every day, and it is not disinfected often,” the flight attendant continued. “We have no way to wash our hands at all when serving drinks.”

Even if the ice tray is clean, the ice cubes inside may be questionable. Airline ice purchased from third-party suppliers is likely of questionable quality. In a 2025 study, researchers took 60 ice cubes from both residential and commercial locations and found that they contained more than 50 different strains of bacteria, Travel + Leisure reported.

“A consistent percentage of the microorganisms identified in the ice are known pathogens that cause human infections, and their presence indicates environmental contamination,” the researchers wrote.

If you want ice in your drink during flights, experts advise ordering soda or alcohol to reduce the number of germs.

However, researchers agree that the best way to be safe is to bring your own bottled water.

The same study found that drinking water on flights from 11 major and 12 regional airlines may not be safe for human consumption.

“My takeaway from this study is to avoid coffee and tea,” said Charles Platkin, the study’s author and executive director of the Hunter College Food Policy Center in New York City.
