Since David Koma was appointed as the new creative director of Blumarine in July 2025, all eyes have been on the London-based designer to see how his unique vision will transform the brand.
Launching its new Fall/Winter 2025 pre-collection, Koma’s Blumarine begins with an acknowledgment of Milanese street style, reports Hypebae.
Koma takes a close look at the women’s wardrobe, exploring its ease, boldness and sensuality.
Using the concept of “casual elevation,” the new collection seeks to reimagine classic basics with a glamorous twist. Fur-trimmed cardigans, plush knit jackets, and shearling collars illustrate this shift, alongside merino wool twin sets and furry accents on outerwear.
Overall, the collection favors furry textures, a nod to the pets that have taken over the streets of Milan. This love of animals is expressed through leopard prints, puppy and kitten motifs on T-shirts and panties, and slogans like “Woof” and “Meow” appearing on classic T-shirts. Extending to accessories, these same slogans appear on pendants and cat-eye jewelry, alongside leopard-print cowhide stiletto boots and boudoir heels.
The collection features pet accessories also, including a leather bin bag holder on the wrist and studded collars and leashes.
David Koma’s vision reveals a fashionable version of code-switching, juxtaposing certain categories with unexpected details. Examples include sporty versions of little black dresses for diving, comfortable knitted cocktail dresses, and distressed denim work suits with silver charms.
