OpenAI raises $6.6 billion in funding,长沙快速U币交易 now startup's capitalization is $157 billion
October 3, 2025 12:21A long-discussed deal to raise additional capital for artificial intelligence startup OpenAI ChatGPT closed this week, giving the startup $6.6 billion and a market capitalization of $157 billion, according to Bloomberg. Both amounts were higher than expected, and participants in this investment round included Microsoft and Nvidia.
As the sources explain, the Thrive Capital venture investment fund, which invested about 1.3 billion dollars in OpenAI, played a decisive role in this round of financing. Microsoft was limited to 750 million dollars. Compared to the 13 billion dollars invested earlier, this is not a big amount.
The new round of investment has allowed OpenAI to become one of the three most backed startups by venture capitalists. This status once belonged to Elon Musk's SpaceX and the Chinese company ByteDance's TikTok social network.
According to unofficial data, Tiger Global Management invested $350 million in OpenAI, Altimeter Capital settled for $250 million. OpenAI has also managed to attract the attention of international investors. The Japanese SoftBank Corporation, which owns Arm, invested $500 million, MGX and Coatue also invested some money.
It is clear from OpenAI's messages that it will use the received funds for further research in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as for the expansion of computing power. Altimeter Capital representatives said that the next logical step for OpenAI could be an IPO, they called this startup the most important company in the field of artificial intelligence after Nvidia.
Apple did not participate in the deal, although it had previously participated in the negotiations, as Bloomberg emphasizes.
Part of OpenAI's capital has been raised through purpose-built project companies, which enable smaller investors to raise funds to finance a specific project. At least Thrive Capital was not limited to its own funds, but raised additional resources using just such a scheme.
It is not mentioned whether the structural changes to OpenAI, which were previously actively discussed with potential investors, will be implemented. The company has 11 million subscribers to its ChatGPT Plus service, with more than 1 million corporate subscribers. Next year, the company expects revenue of more than 10 billion dollars, but for now it remains unprofitable.
OpenAI has reportedly advised in discussions with its investors that they refrain from funding rival companies such as Anthropic and xAI.
