Frasers Group’s expansion plans have gone into overdrive since the start of the year. Peterborough its now getting the retail giant’s treatment opening several stores in the 835,000 sq ft Queensgate shopping centre, located in the heart of the city.

The centre will see the doors to a Frasers department stores and a Sports Direct, taking over the 92,500 sq ft former John Lewis space in 2025.
The Frasers concept store will house an array of aspirational brands across men’s, women’s and kidswear, as well as homewares and beauty, alongside a 30,000 sq ft Sports Direct flagship.
We’re told the new stores “will provide a compelling brand ecosystem in Queensgate, giving visitors access to the world’s best sports, lifestyle, and premium brands. [while] also complement existing retailers within the centre,” mall owner/operator Invesco said.
Ed Ginn, Director of Investment Management at Invesco Real Estate, added: “The signing of Frasers Group is a significant step in our drive to transform Queensgate into a leading retail and leisure destination. Positioned in the top 1% of UK shopping centres, we are committed to investing in brands that will not only enhance the centre, but share our ethos for excellence, innovation and providing an exemplary experience. The quality of offer that Frasers Group provides will help attract an even bigger catchment, repeat visits, and longer dwell time, as we continue to evolve Queensgate with the needs and desires of our visitors firmly in mind.”
A spokesperson for Frasers Group said: “We are big believers in physical retail and these openings mark an exciting time for the group as we continue to expand our store portfolio across the UK and Europe.”
This month, the multi-brand UK retail group said it is to close the House of Fraser in Maidstone, Kent, and transform it into a showcase centre for its portfolio of brands including its fast-growing luxury fashion banner Flannels.
There’s also speculation that the massive up-for-sale Meadowhall mall in Sheffield is a Frasers target in what would be its biggest retail property investment so far.
