Sweaty Betty has signed up as the Official Apparel Partner of the Royal Parks Half Marathon for a second year with the event taking place across London’s Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park, and Kensington Gardens on 8 October.



The brand will also lead a warm-up and cool-down session in the event village.

It seems like a good commercial move for the label as the mass appeal sporting event puts the brand directly in front of those consumers who are likely to buy it.

One of the UK’s most scenic half marathons, it attracts 16,000 participants and it’s interesting that last year, a small majority (52%) of runners were female, making it one of the UK’s only major running events to have more female competitors than male. That chimes with Sweaty Betty’s goal to empower women through fitness and beyond.

The event also has a big focus on inclusivity, with participation from people of all abilities and experiences.

And taking the overall positivity element further, The Royal Parks Half Marathon has raised nearly £60 million for charity since 2008. 

Some 160 members of the activewear brand’s internal team will be taking part in the race to raise funds for the Sweaty Betty Foundation that aims to “empower girls from every background to get active, and stay active, for life”.

Global Brand President Melissa Mullen also said the partnership with the race marks the start of Sweaty Betty’s 25th birthday celebrations.
