Footwear brand Birkenstock has launched an interesting “first-of-its kind” community studio and global brand-owned activation space in East London.

The Dray Walk Gallery within The Truman Brewery has been named ‘Birkenstock Studio: Walk With Me’ to partner with and promote a series of multidisciplinary artists-in-residence in the capital’s creative neighbourhood.
The first artist is Londoner and RCA graduate Helen Kirkum, whose creations “tell challenging stories of design, craft, product, and value”.
The hub offers a free programme of exclusive events and workshops, via an initiative that will allow the brand “to connect and collaborate with its consumers and the creative community”.
Birkenstock said: “It is a true expression of the brand’s DNA and a new physical medium outside of the traditional retail space by which to present its heritage, undisputed craftsmanship and style leadership to a hyper-engaged audience in 2025”.
It will spotlight a curated programme of notable London-based artists-in-residence, “each defined by the values upon which the Birkenstock brand is built”.
It added: “We will work with some of the city’s most respected creators and facilitate the coming together of people to learn about, discuss and experience the brands iconic design and unique craftsmanship. The invitation is to walk with our artists step-by-step and to discover the possibilities of creative community”.
The studio, at 91 Brick Lane, opens from today (9 February) for four days a week (Thursday-Sunday, 12pm-7pm).
