It is hard to wear two professional hats, especially if besides an eponymous brand, a designer is working for a renowned fashion label belonging to a major group. Anthony Vaccarello took over the top creative job at Saint Laurent (Kering) only a few months ago, and has now announced he has put on hold his women's ready-to-wear line, launched in 2008.

"This has been a wonderful adventure, but now I feel the need to concentrate fully on my new objectives," he explained in a very brief press release, referring to the new responsibilities he took on last April at Saint Laurent.
His decision was expected. As we wrote last July, the shift of the Saint Laurent show in Anthony Vaccarello's slot in the next Parisian fashion calendar meant a change was on the cards. The Saint Laurent show is usually scheduled on the second to last day of Paris Fashion week, but this season it will actually open the fashion week at 8 pm on September 27, in the same slot formerly occupied by the Belgian designer's label.
An increasing number of fashion groups now demand that new creative appointees forsake their own lines once they take over the creative helm of a major label.
For some designers, juggling two jobs often turns out to be harder than expected. Last year for example, Dior Homme's creative director, Kris Van Assche, did stop working on his eponymous brand.
