Acne Studios has moved to new headquarters in Stockholm. The Swedish fashion label has chosen the building that housed the former embassy of the Czech Republic as its new home.

The 10-storey building is called Floragatan 13, also its street address, and has a distinctive façade typical of the brutalist architectural style in vogue in the 1970s. It has been entirely renovated and refurbished by Acne Studios and the Johannes Norlander Arkitektur studio, to create an ambience akin to “a fashion school, where interior design encourages creativity.”
20 years after the creation of Acne Studios, the label stated that the newly opened headquarters are intended to fit hand in glove with the brand's pure essence - ACNE is the acronym of Ambition to Create Novel Expressions. According to Creative Director Jonny Johansson, the idea is to “capture a feeling of constant progress and of a venue for experimentation.”

Four of the building's 10 floors are home to the design and production offices, there is a cafeteria in the basement, a library on the ground floor and the lobby functions also as exhibition area for art installations.
Acne Studios stores, for example in Los Angeles and New York, are notable for their art-filled interiors, and for the new headquarters the label has called on designer Max Lamb, who created bespoke furniture and decorative elements, including a chair hewn from rough stone in the lobby, a metal table for the library, and Viking-style rugs and round tables for the meeting room.

Other artists who have contributed are Daniel Silver, who created a series of giant collage artworks for the various rooms, using fabric offcuts from the Acne Studios archives, and Benoit Lalloz who curated the lighting.
A number of elements have been made in the rosy pink hues typical of Acne Studios, “a way of bringing a touch of softness within this brutalist ambience,” said the label.
