For the past few days in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, The Webster store has been showcasing a new brand entitled Uter; a three-piece capsule collection, featuring silk and prints founded by French celebrity stylist, Philippe Uter.

Based in Los Angeles for six years, Philippe Uter has built a loyal celebrity clientele in Hollywood including Noah Schnapp, Milla Jovovich, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Elle MacPherson.

"I grew up with my grandmother who was a seamstress," said Uter. "I was raised in a fashion universe and I remember being impressed by the Yves Saint Laurent fashion shows. My passion for fashion goes back a long way, and I've always had a particular fondness for the shirts I collect."

Based on the paintings created during the Covid time, and "inspired by the Picasso style", Uter founded 3 pieces designed as wearable works of art.

"Uter represents this Palm Springs-inspired philosophy of cool," added Uter. "A brand that focuses on prints, on elegance and lightness, and later, will expand on lifestyle articles in collaboration with decorating houses, hotels, tableware brands."

The three-piece capsule line consists of a button-front short-sleeve shirt, flowy trousers, and shorts. Bottoms are fully lined (moving seamlessly from lounge to street), finished with buttons and an elastic waistband for added comfort. The pieces are composed of 100-percent twill silk and offered in four colors: black and white with red accents, indigo blue with scarlet, sage green with vermilion, and coral pink with mint green.

Supported by a team of designers and friends, Philippe Uter produced his first collection in China, and was immediately spotted by The Webster, which distributes his brand in Los Angeles, Palm Springs and online. Each season will offer new prints, and new pieces will appear regularly, such as a long-sleeved shirt, bombers or, later, a trench coat.

Produced in limited series and positioned as a luxury brand, Uter shorts start at $295, shirts at $395 and pants at $445.

Sent to his best contacts and celebrity friends, the first Uter's garments could quickly make a name in Los Angeles.

"It's often said that anything is possible in Los Angeles," continued Uter. "I've sent my clothes to Lady Gaga, Natalie Portman, Brad Pitt, Beyoncé and Lewis Hamilton, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll wear them. I hope to be able to develop the brand, quickly find a showroom, and why not an investor partner."

Originally from Moselle in eastern France, Uter attended the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Recommended by famous photographer Ali Mahdavi, trained in PR at Karl Lagerfeld, then in editorial at Vogue France, Philippe Uter has subsequently provided creative art directing for luxury design houses such as Elie Saab, Longchamp and Manish Arora.
