President and founder of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Paula Wallace was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal by president Joe Biden in a ceremony at the White House Thursday afternoon.
The Presidential Citizens Medal, the second-highest civilian award in the United States, recognizes individuals who have performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or fellow citizens.
Wallace was among twenty recipients of the Presidential Citizens Medal, who were awarded in a private ceremony, followed by a reception attended by family and friends.
In a statement issued by the White House, president Wallace's impact was described:

By establishing the esteemed Savannah College of Art and Design and serving as its president, she has guided thousands of students into creative industries.”
