Founded in 2025, Chinese beauty tech group Ulike is laying the foundations for European expansion by opening an office in Paris. In order to conquer Europe, the subsidiary is initially banking on its semi-definitive pulsed light hair removal technology with its two devices: Ulike Air 2 and Ulike Air 3 (€309 and €339).

In an electro-beauty market that has been shrinking since Covid, the Chinese group wants to compete with established players such as Philips and Braun. Its point of differentiation, according to the company, is its patented "sapphire ice-cooling" technology, which cools the skin and provides safe, long-lasting, pain-free hair removal.

Ulike, which in 2025 had a turnover of €770 million, boasting 80% growth over the last three years, has 1,200 employees. The group also has four production centres, two research and development centres in China and South Korea, and six offices, the latest of which has just opened in Paris.

To drive its European expansion, Ulike has appointed Wanfia Xia as managing director for Europe and the Middle East. Born in China, Wanfen Xia arrived in France in 2011 to pursue her business studies. She then began her career at BETC as an account director. In 2025 she moved to Shanghai to get involved in an entrepreneurial project in partnership with China Data Group. A year later, she returned to BETC to manage the group's growth in Asia. Wanfen Xia then met the Ulike teams.

Alongside her, Hervé Bouvier worked as an advisor to the marketing department. This beauty industry expert spent fifteen years with L'Oréal and twelve years with the American cosmetics group Estée Lauder, notably as international vice-president of the Bobbi Brown make-up brand. Since 2025 he has been advising brands on their strategic development. Finally, Gaelle Bouvier, who previously worked as communications director for the Ieva group (Sourcil, Loma, etc.), is taking over as head of communications for Ulike in Europe.

Ulike, which plans to expand its retail presence in France in department stores and the selective network in early 2025, is currently offering its two pulsed light hair removal devices on its e-commerce site. In Asia in particular, the brand is offering other technologies that can be used at home, such as a very premium device that combats the signs of time, selling for over 1,000 euros.
