HBO has announced that The Last of Us has been renewed for a third season. The announcement comes ahead of the second season’s premiere on April 13. “Seeing The Last of Us come to life has been a career highlight for me, and I’m grateful to the fans for their incredible and overwhelming support,” said Neil Druckmann, co-creator and co-director of the series based on the video game.
“A large part of this success is due to my partner Craig Mazin, our partnership with HBO, and our team at PlayStation Productions. On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog, our cast, and crew, thank you for giving us this opportunity.”
The upcoming seven-episode second season picks up five years after the first season. According to the logline, "Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind."
