Colombian designer Esteban Cortázar has announced the launch of a new brand, inspired by a unique approach to resortwear.
Dubbed ‘Donde Esteban’ and available on the website dondeesteban.co, the brand is rooted in Cortázar's eclectic background spanning Cartagena, Miami, Ibiza, and Paris, and promises a fusion of Caribbean-meets-Mediterranean aesthetics.
The collection features unisex pieces in laid-back silhouettes, characterized by vivid prints crafted in collaboration with his father, Valentino Cortázar, and local artists.
The first drop sets the tone for the brand by featuring prints inspired by landscapes from Ibiza's Es Vedrà, sunsets in Barú, and Colombia's Magdalena and la Sierra Nevada.
“Donde Esteban started from a personal idea of showing my roots and where I come from and transporting people into my world in the most authentic way. It is about giving my community a true image of who Esteban is as a person, where he comes from, who his family, his friends, his community are, and the places that have shaped him, all into one concept and platform that goes beyond fashion, lifestyle and culture”, said Cortázar.
The name 'Donde Esteban,' translating to 'At Esteban's' or 'Chez Esteban,' evokes a sense of familiarity, reflecting Cortázar's nomadic lifestyle. Born in Bogota, raised in Miami, and having lived in cities like New York and Paris, Cortázar remains deeply connected to Colombia.
After more than 20 years working in the fashion industry, the designer was inspired to launch his own brand: “I wanted to create a lifestyle adventure where I could dream beyond fashion and take me to the places, I love the most. At the same time, I hope to be a beacon for Colombia and Latin American culture and fashion to the world and share my love and energy with my community. My muses are my close friends, the people I spend my summers with, dance with, and constantly inspire me”.
