If you want to stroll through this park, you’ll have to be very nimble. About the size of four sheets of paper, this park in Japan’s central Shizuoka Prefecture was recently named the world’s smallest park.
Despite being only 24 square centimeters in size, the seating area features a stool made from a piece of wood held up by a rock, with a small bush surrounding it.
The park is a short walk from Nagaizumi City Hall.
The previous official smallest park in the world was Mill Ends Park in Portland, which inspired the Japanese contender to officially take the title, according to Guinness World Records.
When a Nagaizumi local was on vacation in the US, “he found the previous record holder for the smallest park,” Shuji Koyama, a group leader in the city’s construction department, told Guinness. “So they wanted to make an even smaller park.”
To qualify for the Guinness title, Shizuoka officials invited a certified surveyor to measure the park.
