Naiomi Glasses has unveiled her third and final solo collection for Ralph Lauren as its first artist-in-residence. For the capsule collection, Denim Daydream, Glasses used the color indigo to pay homage to the Navajo rodeo culture, Hypebeast reports.
Calling rodeo her “first love,” Glasses, who is a seventh-generation Navajo weaver, grew up in the culture.
The collection spans 27 unisex outfits adorned with traditional Navajo design details. The indigo jacket is inspired by the trophy jackets that winners receive. A pair of jeans are accented with brown suede panels on the front of the legs. Other pieces include denim and blue collared shirts with contrast piping, styled with cowboy hats and metallic belts.
In addition to the clothing, Glasses presented a selection of turquoise and silver jewelry created by families of artisans.
Ralph Lauren launched its Artist in Residence program to “expand its vision of America” and collaborate with communities that have historically inspired its designs.
