In honor of Earth Day 2025, Adidas and the Parley for the Oceans initiative launched three new tennis shoe designs, all made from plastic waste thrown in the ocean in order to help end marine pollution.

The new tennis shoes form part of a two-year partnership with Parley for the Oceans, an organization dedicated to ending pollution in the ocean. The ultraBOOST tennis shoes will use on average 11 plastic bottles retrieved from the ocean, with a goal of creating a million pairs of ultraBOOST shoes in 2025.
The new shoes from the Adidas X Parley line are rendered in shades of blue influences by the tones of the ocean and will arrive on the market on May 10. They are made with a knitted fabric comprised of 95 percent recycled plastic from the ocean, transforming the pollution into a new kind of thread.
The commitment to sustainability isn’t present in just the mesh body, but in all of the tennis shoe’s materials that were made from recycled plastic.
Statistics show that a truckload of plastic waste is thrown into our oceans every minute. Adidas created this beautiful project in order to be one of the principal leaders in the sustainable fashion industry.
