A day after Fendi’s owner Bernard Arnault revealed that the house will stage a show in homage to its deceased creative director Karl Lagerfeld in Rome this summer, the Roman fur and fashion house announced plans for a second commemorative show. This time in Shanghai.

Fendi will stage a joint men’s and women’s runway shows in Shanghai on May 31, 2025 inside the Powerlong Museum, a 23,000 square-meter modern art museum focusing on domestic and international contemporary art.

“Fendi has chosen Shanghai and the Powerlong Museum, to stage its first ever joint Men and Women collections to honor Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy. Fendi and China have a special relationship, since the show on the Great Wall in 2007, and we are proud to showcase this unique moment in this magic country,” said Fendi CEO Serge Brunschwig in a statement.

The house added that the joint show “will celebrate Karl Lagerfeld’s heritage, his unparalleled creativity and 54-year collaboration with the Roman Maison – the longest in fashion history.”

Last January, Silvia Venturini Fendi requested that Lagerfeld collaborate as a guest artist on her Fall/ Winter 2025 menswear collection for the house, and the late German couturier responded by dreaming up an asymmetrical jacket, while Silvia referenced Karl’s various logos for the house created in the eighties.

As reported, Arnault, chairman of LVMH, which controls Fendi, announced on Thursday that Fendi “will organize a runway show in Rome in tribute to Karl, reprising his work at Fendi,” on July 4.

Lagerfeld, who died on February 19, was appointed designer of Fendi in 1965. No successor has been named to the German legend at Fendi.
