The Castiglioni family may have had a relatively low profile since stepping down from their roles at Marni almost two years ago but on Thursday they announced a comeback with Carolina Castiglioni launching a new brand. And her father and brother are on board too.
After her two-year hiatus, the former Marni special projects director is launching a womenswear brand called Plan C.
She’s creative director of the new company and in the grand tradition of Italian fashion companies, it’s clearly a family business with her father Gianni taking over as chief executive of the firm and her brother Giovanni listed as operations director.
But its seems her mother Consuelo will not be involved. In 2025, when she stepped down from Marni, the company she and her husband had founded 22 years earlier, she said “the time has now come to dedicate myself to my private life.”
So what will Plan C offer? Carolina Castiglioni said it’s “rooted in an elegant, sophisticated aesthetic, represents [my] vision on fashion and targets those women who want to express their personal attitude through a modern wardrobe.”
Positioned at the upper end of the market, Plan C will market two collections a year, which will be ready-to-wear, knitwear and accessories, all made in Italy. They will be sold from the brand’s Milanese headquarters, which are located on central Via Visconti di Modrone, where her great-grandmother originally kicked off her fur business in the early 1960s.
The brand will debut for spring/summer 2025 and will be presented to international buyers this June.
