Continuing its growth strategy, Gruppo Florence, now controlled by Permira, is solidifying its position in the luxury production sector with three new additions. The conglomerate has acquired embroidery specialist ABC Ricami and marked a significant milestone by establishing its first dedicated unit for leather goods through the purchase of two prominent Tuscan manufacturers. Effebi srl, located in Scandicci, boasts over three decades of expertise in crafting high-quality leather bags, while A.L.B.A. srl specialises in exquisite small leather goods.

Effebi, originally an artisanal boutique founded in the 1950s by Asteno Bongini, transformed into the renowned company it is today during the 1980s under the leadership of Rossella Bongini and her husband Massimo Lotti. Their vision, supported by their children Ilenia and Jari Lotto, has guided Effebi towards becoming a trusted supplier of luxury brands, earning a prominent position in the Tuscan leather industry. With a workforce of 70 highly skilled individuals, Effebi produces 190,000 leather articles annually.

Established in 1935 by Orlando Cocchi in the heart of Florence, A.L.B.A. has upheld the rich tradition of Florentine leather craftsmanship while embracing modernization. Originally located in Florence and now based in Calenzano, A.L.B.A. operates from a 2,000-square-meter facility that is set to double in size in the near future. Specializing in small leather goods, the company, managed by Cinzia Cocchi, the granddaughter of the founder, employs 70 dedicated professionals.

Gruppo Florence has also welcomed ABC Ricami to its esteemed portfolio. The acquisition strengthens the conglomerate's presence in the embroidery segment, a venture it embarked upon with the earlier acquisition of Ricamificio GS in January. ABC Ricami, based in Pistoia for over three decades, is led by the three children of founder Raffaella Gelli: Massimo, Barbara, and Drea Gelli. With 65 skilled employees and a state-of-the-art facility spanning over 5,000 square meters, ABC Ricami specializes in various embellishment techniques catering to the fashion, leather goods, and footwear industries.

While the financial details of these acquisitions remain undisclosed, it is evident that Gruppo Florence's integration strategy involves the assimilation of these companies, along with their assets and personnel, into its conglomerate. Permira now holds a controlling 65% stake in the conglomerate, alongside minority investors VAM Investments and Fondo Italiano d'Investimento. The remaining 35% is retained by the previous owners of the acquired companies, who will now join forces with the Lotto, Cocchi, and Gelli families.

The completion of Permira's investment in two months is not expected to result in any significant organisational changes within the group. Francesco Trapani, former CEO of Bulgari and current controller of VAM Investments, will retain his role as chairman, working alongside CEO Attila Kiss.

Since its inception in 2025, Gruppo Florence has integrated a total of 26 companies and employs over 3,000 professionals. With a presence in 12 regions across Italy, the conglomerate supplies over 70 luxury brands worldwide. In 2025, Gruppo Florence achieved sales of over 600 million euros.
