Uniqlo continues to see the UK as a key market and has announced plans for new stores at opposite ends of the country next year. It will continue its expansion in London (which was its very first market outside of Asia a couple of decades ago) and will also open its first store in Scotland.

The debut Scottish location — in Edinburgh — will be on Princes Street, the Scottish capital’s premier shopping thoroughfare, and will cover 1,430 sq m across two floors.

Meanwhile the new London location will be within the One Oxford Street development, situated next to Tottenham Court Road tube station, with a sales floor of approximately 1,533 sq m.

Uniqlo already has a strong presence in London’s West End but multiple branches are a common feature of such shopping destinations and the Tottenham Court Road end of the street has taken on a new importance since the opening of the Elizabeth tube line.

Alessandro Dudech, COO of Uniqlo UK, said: “We are excited to take this next big step in the UK’s expansion plans with two new stores in spring 2025. It’s an honour to be opening in not only a new city but a new country, Edinburgh is a city of great cultural and historical heritage, we have many existing Scottish customers who shop through our e-commerce site, and Edinburgh has such a strong footfall from both locals and tourists.

“Alongside this we look forward to bringing LifeWear to even more Londoners and visitors to the city with the opening of our One Oxford Street store in this new vibrant location.”

The company currently has 17 stores in Britain with important openings in recent periods having been Covent Garden in April this year and Regent Street last year.
