Inditex is continuing its strategy of rolling out its Zara Pre-Owned platform. Starting from Thursday, September 7, the service will be available in France, the second market where the Spanish chain introduces this innovation after the UK. As announced by the group chaired by Marta Ortega at its latest shareholders’ meeting held last July, this initiative will extend to “all key markets” by 2025. It is expected to reach Spain and Germany in the current fiscal year.

“We firmly believe that innovation is essential for the development of a circular future, so we actively work together to find and scale solutions to shape a more sustainable value chain,” stated Paula Ampuero, head of sustainable development at Zara.com, in a statement released by the Galician group on August 31.
Starting next week, customers of the brand in France will have access to this novel platform to “give new life to their wardrobes.” Integrated on the brand’s website and mobile app, the Pre-Owned service, as detailed by the Arteixo-based company, aims to “extend the lifespan of garments, contribute to waste reduction, and lower the consumption of new raw materials.”
Repair, sale, and donations
To achieve this, the platform will offer garment repair services for Zara items, including button replacement, seam repairs, or closure element substitution. As the chain has explained, customers will be able to track their orders online and arrange delivery at the Zara physical store of their choice.
Furthermore, Pre-Owned includes an online buying and selling space for individuals, allowing customers to purchase or sell items from past collections. Zara will ensure transaction security and tracking, as well as package transportation.
Finally, a service for donating used clothing will also be available, offering at-home collection through collaboration with the Le Relais association, as well as through containers in physical stores.

This initiative is part of the Galician conglomerate’s sustainability strategic plan, aiming to reduce its emissions by 50% by 2030. The ultimate goal is carbon neutrality by 2040, which implies a 90% reduction in emissions.
Behind Spain and the United States, France is one of the main revenue markets for the company founded by Amancio Ortega. In the region, the company operates through all its brands with a total of 269 physical stores and employs 11,300 workers. Zara, its flagship brand, landed in Paris in the early 1990s and now operates 111 stores, including the recently inaugurated flagship store on the Champs-Élysées.
In June, Inditex inaugurated its new headquarters in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. With a surface area of 3,000 square meters, the space accommodates around 200 employees.
In the first quarter of the current fiscal year, Inditex’s revenue grew by 13% to €7.611 billion, and its net profit increased by 54% to €1.168 billion.
