Decathlon’s UK subsidiary has hired retail specialist law firm Gordons to provide regulatory advice amid growing sales in the country it sees as a “priority territory”.
The firm will advise the sports and outdoor equipment and apparel retailer on domestic product stewardship and consumer law.
France’s Decathlon, which opened its first UK store in 1999 and began e-commerce operations there in 2011, currently operates 50 stores and employs more than 1,500 people. In August, the UK business reported its revenue had reached £300 million for the first time.
Decathlon’s UK conformity & quality leader, Dorota Wypych, said Gordons, especially partner and head of regulatory, Simon Tingle, has already "been instrumental in our ongoing product compliance efforts.
“Their in-depth knowledge of regulation has been invaluable, helping to navigate the complexities in dealing with product compliance enquiries. Their expertise and clear communication made the whole process smooth and successful”.
