In a move reflecting e-tailers’ need to shift unsold stock and consumers’ current obsessions with low prices, ASOS has this week launched a pop-up sample sale webstore.

The company has previously said it’s working on shifting old stock and this site should do the job as everything is priced at £5.
Featuring both women’s and menswear, many items are already marked as ‘sold out’.
The £5 price tag means some items are discounted by as much as 90% as the company works to reduce the amount of surplus stock in its warehouses.
It’s a UK-only initiative and the roughly 2,000+ pieces, which aren’t now available on its main webstore, include ASOS own brands such as Design and Edition.
Like some other online retailers, ASOS has struggled in recent periods as the world has returned to normal post-pandemic and the advantage e-commerce specialists had during the Covid crisis has ended.
The post-Covid change in consumer shopping patterns and other issues such as previous over-ordering to counter expected supply chain delays has left many holding large amounts of stock that has proved hard to shift.
In June, ASOS said it would be able to achieve a 20% reduction in the stock it holds by the end of the current financial year.
