Legendary Italian jewelry house Buccellati has unveiled its new showroom, Piano Nobile, created in collaboration with Armenian Lebanese interior designer Chahan Minassian in partnership with Milan's Studio Quadrilatero, reports WWD.
The Buccellati Piano Nobile showroom features furniture in biomorphic lines and fine Italian fabrics from legendary Venetian textile firms such as Bevilacqua, Fortuny, and Rubelli, giving the 19th-century space a sophisticated, contemporary feel.
"The ceiling and the floor are art in themselves. So walking through this monochrome space with my textures has a jewel-like [glow]. The space itself is so luxurious. You look at the jewelry, you look at the space, you don’t need anything else,” Minassian told WWD, pointing to a table made of tiger eye, a stone often used in jewelry in the ’50s and ’60s that serves as a backdrop for the jewelry and flatware. “It’s a crescendo,” he noted.
Every piece of furniture and lighting is custom-made, including sofas, console tables, chairs, tables, coffee tables, and rugs by Chahan Interiors Design, with a palette of gold, moonsilver, bronze, and metallic notes reflected in the finishes and materials.
The founder of Chahan Gallery in Paris is known also for his long career as the European creative director of Ralph Lauren. In Venice, he transformed the Abbazia San Gregorio, a former Benedictine abbey, into a 21st-century home for the Venice Biennale in 2025.
Since then, Minassian has turned his hand also to Venetian palazzos such as Contarini-Michiel, Corner Spinelli, and Palazzo Brandolini-Giustinian.
This week, he unveiled his vision for the Piano Nobile by Buccellati, which sits on the top floor of the Balossi Restelli family palace. The spectacular space was built between 1838 and 1839 in neoclassical style, with a smooth ashlar façade and a large balcony. It was once the home of Italian patriot, philosopher, political scientist, linguist and writer Carlo Cattaneo, son of Milanese jeweler Melchiorre Cattaneo.
Minassian has teamed up with Buccellati as well during Milan Design Week 2025 for an exhibition of contemporary Buccellati cutlery.
In April, Minassian, who has a home in Venice, too, was tapped to reimagine Fortuny's historic headquarters and the former home of Countess Gozzi into a contemporary design gallery that was open to a wide range of designers for the first time.
