Kirsty Hume, one of the biggest models of the 1990s, is the muse for & Other Stories’ latest Savoir collection that has just launched in stores and online.
Savoir is a limited edition offer that the brand launches twice a year and the H&M Group-owned retailer said that “inspired by Hume’s journey from supermodel to artist, this season’s Savoir collection merges 90s minimalism with the bold, the free and the forever feminine”.
Hume also stars in the campaign “where her story is interwoven, providing a universal perspective on what it means to be a woman on an ongoing artistic journey”.
The brand’s Concept Designer Frida Billegren said the aim with the collection was “to embody the liberating essence of the infinite sky, emphasising the correlation between freedom and creativity. What began as a canvas painting of a sunset sky evolved into a series of dresses, separates, and accessories cleverly crafted using high-quality fabrics and with utmost attention to detail”.
The hero piece of the collection is a column dress that showcases the sunset sky artwork. It comes with a minimalist design but is “bold and expressive with painted strokes”.
That “sets the tone for the entire collection, inspiring other styles such as a voluminous sky-blue dress and a sunny-yellow dress featuring artful draping echoing the historical shapes of the 1930s and 40s”.
The design team has reinterpreted the draping across experimental denim styles as well, “adding a modern edge to the fanciful creations”.
Additionally, there are “translucent separates, rendered in a lavender pointelle knit and sage-green lace, which materialise the sheer, veil-like quality of clouds”.
Fabrics include a selection of sustainably sourced viscose, “silk-like filament yarns known for their softness, lustre, and drape”, as well as organic and recycled cotton.
The collection also comes with accessories, such as handmade glass baubles strung on sterling silver and a sandal with a sculptural flower heel.
