45 years after the original collaboration between Stan Smith and Adidas in 1973, the brand has now entered into a lifetime partnership with their famous sneaker's namesake.
As part of what Adidas called a "perpetual, legacy partnership," Adidas Originals has released a slightly updated version of the classic Sam Smith shoe. Featuring the original model's classic leather upper, rubber cupsole and white and green color scheme, the #StanSmithForever shoe also features "#StanSmithForever" written on the heel in Smith's own handwriting, "Stan Smith" embossed in gold on the sneaker's side, and a written message from Smith on each insole.
"The announcement not only commemorates the enduring cultural legacy of a tennis
icon, but also ensures that legacy will be able to continue for decades to come," the brand said in a press release.
The announcement comes shortly after the release of Stan Smith: Some People Think I’m a Shoe!, a coffee table book commemorating the sneaker's sport and street style legacy published by Rizzoli in September.
The #StanSmithForever shoe is available now worldwide through select retailers and in some territories through adidas.com.
