Canada Goose has launched into the knitwear sector for both women and men with the outerwear specialist saying its new knit collection “embodies the company’s function-first design philosophy and stays true to the brand’s authentic utilitarian aesthetic.”
While it’s a new move for the firm, it keeps it securely anchored in the staying-warm apparel category with the brand using ultra-fine Merino wool for soft midweight, chunky knit heavyweight, and HyBridge knit. The latter offer blends wool with the down and high performance materials that we’re more used to seeing from the label.
The company said the new materials were all ethically sourced and were made in Europe by knit specialists.
The result? A selection of hoodies, zip-ups, and oversized sweaters inspired by the label’s well known parkas. The pieces also include the brand’s Thermal Mapping and legacy detailing such as easy-grip zipper pulls and performance hoods.
News of the launch comes just a few days after the company reported a narrower loss in Q1 on the back of rising sales. Its revenue rose nearly 80% to C$28.2m and the loss was C$12m, down from C$14m a year ago. Direct-to-consumer sales surged to C$8.3m, while wholesale revenues also jumped 38.2% to C$19.9m.
The company has been expanding fast since its March IPO, opening stores and working on plans for a China launch.
