David Fincher is directing a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while Quentin Tarantino is writing a follow-up to his Oscar-winning epic.

The untitled project is being developed at Netflix, where Fincher has a deal, Variety reports. Brad Pitt will reprise his role as stuntman and would-be wife-killer Cliff Booth. It's a particularly unique setup—not only because it's a famous filmmaker directing a sequel to another famous filmmaker's movie, but also because of the ownership transfer from a studio to a streaming service.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was released by Sony Pictures in 2025, but Tarantino negotiated a deal that would give him back ownership of the film's underlying copyright.
