Repurposing plastics is big business for London-based Kind Bag. The sustainable accessories firm has just announced that it has enjoyed strong growth for the third year running.

Turnover jumped 45% year-on-year to £940,000 in its last year, and it repurposed over five million recycled plastic bottles as bags in the process.
Growth was fuelled by UK sales (up 55% year-on-year) and an expanding export market, that now includes the US, Australia, Spain, Italy and France.
The brand also said it currently exports to 25+ countries worldwide, with these exports accounting for around 50% of sales.
Founder Maria Rodriguez said: “Kind Bag goes from strength-to-strength, having achieved [strong] growth in spite of the cost-of-living crisis and rising inflation.
“While we have found retailers and stockists are more cautious when buying stock, we have chosen to really nurture the accounts we work with, as well as spending time and money implementing new procedures and systems to ensure we maximise the company’s performance.”
Rodriguez added she hopes Kind Bag business will more than double in size over the next year.
Every bag has been developed to reduce single-use plastic, recycling plastic bottles to create each one of its design-led, eco-friendly accessories, which are made using a process that transforms used plastic bottles into a practical, durable fabric.
Kind Bag is available in the UK via its own website, through The Red Cross, Kew Gardens, Oxfam, Selfridges, Waterstones and independent retailers nationwide.
